B'nei Mitzvah Program
Our B’nei Mitzvah program is a deeply thoughtful and fun opportunity for students to explore their Jewish identity, learn about Judaism and find ways to make it meaningful and relevant to them. They gain skills and confidence to lead a service and read from the Torah, to learn about Jewish values and perform Jewish actions, realising those values, to mix with other students of a similar age from different schools and backgrounds, to experience what it means to be part of a community, and to make themselves and their families extremely proud.
Classes are held on Tuesdays during the school term, from 4.30pm to 6:00pm.

After School Program
Beit Sefer Chayim, a collaboration between Etz Chayim and Temple Beth Israel, is our after-school program that provides foundational Jewish learning and community experiences for students in Prep - Grade 5. Students will learn about the Jewish calendar, Torah, values, rituals, languages and more, through the teachings of Progressive Judaism.
Classes are held on Tuesdays during the school term, from 4.30pm - 6pm.
Adult Education
Etz Chayim conducts a variety of adult education activities including guest speakers and short courses, a book club, regular family learning opportunities, celebrating programs and special learning sessions on specific topics such as confronting death or Havdalah for example.
Choosing Judaism
“Wherever you go, I will go. Wherever you live, I will live.
Your people shall be my people and your God shall be my God.”
- Book of Ruth 1:16
Etz Chayim offers an Introduction to Judaism program developed to effectively combine individual learning with opportunities for experiential group learning. The pace of the program is determined by the individual’s availability, prior learning and identified goals for Jewish learning.
Learning with others to create a shared experience and safe space to ask questions of others in similar or different situations is important and so, we will join with others in the Progressive Jewish community in a series of excursions and incursions.
